Welcome

The "Star-Throwers" blog provides a compilation of personal ideas and actions to help improve the lives of children with disabilities and their families.

These ideas and actions were sent to me by numerous individuals during the month of September, 2010 as "gifts" following my retirement from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Posted are only those ideas and actions that the authors gave me permission to post. The names of the authors that appear are shared with the authors' permissions as well. I treasure all the "gifts " sent to me (those shared here and those that are not). They show the impact each of us can and do make as individuals to make the world a better place. If each of us could continue to generate just one such idea or action a month, what a powerful force for positive change that would be.

All children need and deserve to live in a world in which they have love and care and a chance to grow and thrive with their families in the community.  May we always be inspired to be "star-throwers" and take positive steps in our lives to create such a world for our children and future generations.
